| The Lower Sacramento River |
 |
The Lower Sacramento River between Redding and Red Bluff is
possibly California's premier wild trout fishery. If a 20 fish
day is in the cards for you, the Lower Sac might be the place
it will happen….and that can be any day of the year!
We'll fish the Lower Sac from my drift boat. Indicator nymphing
is the most productive method, although we’ll always
be on the lookout for fish rising for dry flies.
The Lower Sac is open to fishing year round, and can be excellent
at any time of year.

| The Pit River |
 |
My favorite trout stream in all of Northern California!
30 miles of the Pit below the Lake Britton dam provide seemingly
endless stretches of pocket water and habitat for a very unique
species of trout, the Pit river rainbow. The average fish
on the Pit is 12" and the typical range is from 9"
to 16". Pit River rainbows are very fat and strong, so
a 14" fish can be difficult to land. Monsters up to 20"
are caught occasionally, especially in the spring and fall. |

| The Upper Sacramento River |
 |
35 miles of the Upper Sac flow from the dam below Lake Siskiyou.
The Upper Sacramento is a pristine freestone river with gin
clear water. It’s the perfect place to refine your highstick
nymphing techniques on crystal pools and enhance your dry fly
casting over riffled runs. This river contains many large lake
run rainbows in the lower reaches. |
